Welcome
Welcome to the Beaumaris Buddhist Meditation Centre.
It is our humble privilege to provide the beauty and inspiration of the Dharma through this website.
The Beaumaris Buddhist Meditation Centre was officially recognized and blessed by our Spiritual Leader, the Ven. Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden in 1994. A renowned Tibetan Buddhist Master, Meditator and Scholar, founded the Tibetan Buddhist Society in Australia in 1979.
Our Founder, Teacher and Director, Therese Bottomley, was inspired to study Buddhism after a personal interview with His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama, on his first visit to Australia in 1982. Soon after Therese began studying with our Spiritual Head, the Ven. Geshe Loden. Therese is the only female lay-teacher in Australia who leads a Buddhist meditation centre. She is also wife, mother, community worker and business woman. Her husband, Laurence, and their two daughters, Katrina and Lisa, are also co-directors.
The Beaumaris Buddhist Meditation Centre uniquely offers classes for all students. Introduction classes, dealing with fundamental basic Buddhist philosophy and meditation practices, which are based on the 84,000 teachings of Shakymuni Buddha, extending to more advanced practices, and include the highest yoga tantric class of Vajrayogini. Following the Tibetan tradition, lively discussion and debate are encouraged – all in good humour!
The Centre is unique as it offers a more personal atmosphere, but is big on enthusiasm and friendly students. Please feel free to contact us with any enquiries.
